Library upgrade

Bigger and blue

For years we’ve had two white IKEA bookcases in our living room, every now and then replaced in front of another piece of a wall. Every year more and more books were added (because, book lover here)… Now that the books started piling out of the bookcases, I decided it was time for expanding the library.

Apart from just adding an extra bookcase, I wanted the library to stand out from the wall. White bookcases in front of a completely white and empty wall was getting boring! I found a beautiful indigo blue from Bruguer that I used to paint the bookcases. I’d still like to change the handles of the drawers, but I haven’t found a good fit yet. For now I just used the original handles and painted them in black.

It’s not the most spectacular makeover I’ve done, but it’s amazing what painting a piece of furniture in a different color can do and I’m very pleased with how the library now looks in our house.
