Gold and chique

A very fun project I did together with Heidi (Reloved Furniture Mallorca). It was our first time using gold leaf. We ended up leaving the whole workshop covered with gold everywhere, but the end result of this chest of drawers made us very proud.

After cleaning and sanding the piece, we painted it in Athenian black chalk paint from Annie Sloan and sealed it with varnish. The inside of the drawers were painted light grey to match the wallpaper we added to the bottom of the drawers. We kept the original hardware but spraypainted it black. Then we got to the most exciting part, where we applied gold leaf from one side of the bottom up to the other side of the piece, continuing on the top. We added a glass top to give better protection and to give an extra touch of luxury.
